ASSISTANT COACH CHASTADIE BARRS

College of Charleston women's basketball head coach Robin Harmony has announced the hiring of Chastadie Barrs as an assistant coach.

Barrs was four-time Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year and ended her career as the Southland Conference Player of the Year.  She led the nation her senior year with 192 steals, which set the NCAA single season steals mark. She also ranked first the nation in steals per game averaging 6.2 while finishing her career with 648 total steals, officially recorded as the most steals in an NCAA career.

She set a school record with five triple-doubles, which was the second most in the NCAA in the 2018-2019 season, while becoming the second player in NCAA history to score 1,000 points, collect 500 rebounds, dish out 500 assists and have 500 steals in a career.

Barrs earned a spot in Lamar's record book ranking sixth in career points (1391), first in career steals (648), seventh in career rebounds (740), and first in career assists (717).

Barrs started the basketball organization, Hoop Culture DFW, where she composed two teams that competed in the highest level of AAU. Additionally, during this time she partnered with her mother Felicia to coach 2nd through 12th grade student-athletes at Brighter Horizons Academy for two years.

Prior to starting the basketball organization and coaching, Barrs played basketball in Lausanne Switzerland for the Federation Suisse de Basketball where she earned Defensive Player of the Year. In her one season with the team, she recorded 50 steals and averaged 4.5 steals per game.

Barrs graduated Magna Cum Lade from Lamar University with a bachelor's degree in Corporate Communications in 2019.
